The Rebel ukulele sides spruce

Some of you already know we love to experiment and follow our curiosity. Sometimes that means going against old myths not because we don’t respect the masters before us, but because we want to experience it firsthand instead of just taking someone else’s word.

One question kept bothering me for a long time: why has no one ever used spruce for the back and sides? Was it really that bad?

So we tried it. And the result surprised us the sound was fresh, new, and nothing like a spruce top.

That gave us the courage to take the next step: using spruce for the sides. When I finally played it after finishing, it gave me goosebumps. Honestly, it felt like one of the best decisions we’ve ever made… like the very first time I picked up a ukulele.

We’re just a small team who loves building instruments. Some ideas get love, some don’t—but we always give our best and keep trying new things. That’s what we stand for.

Huge thanks to our team and to everyone who supports us—you’re the reason we keep going.

Every ukulele we make—whether it’s J-Series or K-Series—is a little different each batch and each year. If you compare a new one to an older model, the sound won’t be exactly the same. And that’s intentional—we’re always refining the sound and bracing to fit different shapes and sizes.

So here it is, our latest experiment turned innovation: spruce sides.
